UKIM to unveil digital platform for Macedonian transcription

Skopje, 9 October 2024 (MIA) – The Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje (UKIM) is set to present a new artificial intelligence-based digital platform for Macedonian speech transcription, “Buki.”

UKIM has announced that, keeping pace with modern trends in promoting and using the Macedonian language, the digital model was designed by Dejan Porjazovski, an AI speech recognition expert from Aalto University in Finland, as part of the Center for Advanced Interdisciplinary Research (CeNIIs) at UKIM, led by Prof. Dr. Ordan Chuklev.

During the presentation, Porjazovski will reveal details regarding the model’s functionality. Minister of Digital Transformation, Stefan Andonovski, UKIM Rector Prof. Dr. Biljana Angelova, Prof. Dr. Nikola Stikov from the Polytechnique Montréal’s Biomedical Engineering Department and Prof. Dr. Ilina Jakimovska, Head of the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at UKIM will also deliver remarks.

UKIM also stated that following the presentation, the digital model will be open for testing, and those interested can contribute by donating their voices – reading Macedonian texts and uploading them to the Mozilla platform. Detailed instructions will be provided at the event, along with the start of a “Donate Your Voice” campaign.
