Skopje, 25 June 2024 (MIA) - Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski had a bilateral meeting Tuesday with his Austrian counterpart Gerhard Karner on the sidelines of the Ministerial Conference of the Salzburg Forum held Tuesday and Wednesday in Austria.
At the meeting, according to the Interior Ministry, Karner congratulated Toshkovski on his election, noting the importance of the traditionally good relations between the two countries.
“The ministers agreed to continue and enhance cooperation, especially when it comes to jointly dealing with migration flows and the fight against illegal corruption and migrant smuggling. This cooperation is of essential importance for the stability and security of the region, as well as for an effective management of the challenges that arise because of the migration crises,” the Ministry said in a press release.
Minister Toshkovski expressed gratitude over the aid and assistance provided by the Austrian Federal Ministry of the Interior to the country. He especially highlighted the significance of the previous bilateral agreement and the joint operations with Frontex, which, he said, significantly contribute to the improvement of the security situation and efficient management of migration challenges.
