Those who wish unrest in region behind Kosovo incident, says Kovachevski

Skopje, 25 September 2023 (MIA) – Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski condemned Sunday’s events in Kosovo and reiterated Monday that there is no danger regarding the security situation in North Macedonia.

“There is no basis for any fears regarding the security situation in the country, however, I must voice concern and condemnation over what happened in Kosovo, because of the killing of a police officer – a part of the security structure. It was an act of violence that no one needs, and we all saw that it brings nothing good, except for unrest, not only in Kosovo, but also in the entire region,” said Kovachevski in answer to a journalist’s question.

According to Kovachevski, someone’s agenda to once again portray the region as a region of unrest hides behind the events in Kosovo.

“It is certain that someone’s agenda to once again portray the region as a region of unrest, a region of fighting neighbors, hides behind the events that happened in Kosovo yesterday. Fortunately, there are politicians like the ones in our country and in Albania, who want to see the region integrated within the EU, and I believe they also exist in all countries of the region too,” said Kovachevski.

The Prime Minister joined EU Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi’s call for an investigation.
