Skopje, 12 September 2022 (MIA) – Finance Minister Fatmir Besimi has said that tax reforms are not starting now but are part of the Government’s programme and the strategy for tax reforms adopted by the end of 2020. “The reform is broader than what is being discussed, there is a 2021-2025 action plan in place. Therefore, the reform is not starting now, we are opening the debate because we want to hear all stakeholders. The quality of these reforms depends on the inclusiveness of the process,” Minister Besimi told TV24. According to him, the progressive personal income tax will enter into force on 1 January 2023, as will the taxation of deposits and the capital profit tax. The FinMin adds that the main objective of the reforms is not only fiscal revenues but also fairness.
