Skopje, 11 June 2024 (MIA) – The Tanec national folk ensemble will mark the centenary of the birth of Gjorgji Dimchevski, legend of Macedonian folk music, with a concert Tuesday evening at the Macedonian National Theater in Skopje.

The concert is organized as part of the events marking the 75th anniversary of Tanec this year.   

Gjorgi Dimchevski (1924 – 2006) is considered a legend of the Macedonian folk music. For 25 years, he helmed the orchestra in Tanec all the while being a violin and tanpura soloist, an arranger of songs and instrumental melodies as well as the author of musical arrangements of entire choreographies.

A documentary about his life and opus will be screened before the concert.
