Skopje, 13 September 2022 (MIA) – Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi has received the VMRO-DPMNE initiative on a referendum to cancel the Bulgaria Friendship Treaty and is expected to make a decision on it during the day, Parliament sources told MIA on Tuesday. If the initiative gets the green light, it will be forwarded for committee approval, which is set to decide within two days, as per the Rules of Procedures. If the Speaker establishes that the initiative is orderly, he will inform the petitioner within three days from obtaining an opinion by the working bodies. If the Speaker finds that the initiative is not orderly, it is put on the agenda of the next Parliament session for a decision. Some media have already reported that Xhaferi would not accept the initiative.
