Speaker Gashi meets UN Resident Coordinator Columbia

Skopje, 12 November 2025 (MIA) - Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi met Wednesday with United Nations Resident Coordinator Rita Columbia, discussing the cooperation between the two institutions, with a focus on processes related to sustainable development, human rights and good governance.

Speaker Gashi highlighted the fruitful cooperation with the UN Resident Coordinator's Office, noting its significant contribution in the promotion of transparency and accountability of institutions, the Parliament said in a press release.

Resident Coordinator Columbia welcomed the initiative and stressed the support of the United Nations to the Parliament's activities related to the implementaton of agreements and projects realized in partnership with UN agencies.

She added that future focus will be placed on joint efforts for enhancement of education, creating better conditions for persons with disabilities, promoting gender equality and further strengthening of the women;s role in society and parliament.

In addition, Gashi thanked Columbia for UN's support in the Republic of North Macedonia in the fields of good governance, social inclusion, environment protection, climate change, employment and balanced regional development, reads the press release.
