Misajlovski: Security situation in Macedonia is stable, working closely with NATO allies

Skopje, 17 March 2026 (MIA) – The security situation in Macedonia is stable and institutions are closely monitoring developments in the region and beyond, particularly in light of current geopolitical events, Defence Minister Vlado Misajlovski said.

He underscored that the country maintains constant coordination with NATO allies and that security services regularly exchange information with partner countries. According to him, there are currently no indications of a direct threat to the country’s security, but institutions remain vigilant and ready to respond if any risks arise.

“Membership in NATO represents a significant factor for stability and security of Macedonia. The alliance provides mechanisms for collective defence and enhances coordination in tackling modern security challenges,” Misajlovski told Alfa TV.

He added that the country is working to strengthen its defence capabilities and modernize the Army as part of a broader strategy to enhance security. He noted that investments in defence and cooperation with allies are key to maintaining a stable and safe environment.

“Despite instability in some parts of the world, institutions in Macedonia have the capacity and readiness to guarantee the safety of citizens, while regularly monitoring all potential threats and security challenges,” Misajlovski said.
