Skopje, 26 September 2024 (MIA) - Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi met Thursday with new United Nations Resident Coordinator Rita Columbia, discussing the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and the National Development Strategy.

Gashi and Columbia expressed satisfaction from the cooperation between the Parliament and the UN Office, while expecting more intensive communication in the coming period and ehnanced support for development projects, the Parliament said in a press release.

Columbia highlighted the key role of parliaments in meeting the SDGs and the National Development Strategy and reaffirmed the commitment to set up an informal group on sustainable development in the Parliament.

Gashi extended gratitude to the UN agencies for their local activities in the field of good governance, social inclusion, environmental protection, climate change, employment, gender equality, balanced regional development etc, reads the press release.
