Skopje, 27 September 2024 (MIA) - Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi met Friday with visiting Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, highlighting Budapest's continued support to North Macedonia's Euro-integration path since the countries established diplomatic ties in 1994.

Speaker Gashi briefed PM Orban on the group for cooperation with the Hungarian Parliament that was set up at the start of the current term, noting that cooperation should enhance and develop on all levels, the Parliament said in a press release.

Gashi also thanked Orban for the Hungarian loan that would bring new energy to the country's economy.

PM Orban expressed gratitude for the hospitality and the open talks with state officials, saying that inter-parliamentary cooperation is especially important in bilateral relations. He said Hungary remains a committed and sincere supporter of North Macedonia over its EU accession, praising its role in the protection of the Union borders and countering illegal migration.
