Skopje, 6 Маy 2025 (MIA) - An Inter-Party Parliamentary Group (IPPG) for support of Roma rights, their inclusion and integration in the Republic of North Macedonia was set up at the Macedonian Parliament on Tuesday.
"The IPPG includes members from all political parties in the Assembly. MP Igor Zdravkovski has been elected as chair of the Group, while MPs Amar Mecinovikj and Arbana Pasholi will be his deputies. Although there are no Roma in the current parliamentary composition, this Group will continue to represent Roma citizens," the Parliament said in a press release.
The IPPG's chair Zdravkovski briefed participants in the session on the statistical figures regarding education, unemployment and institutional inclusion of Roma, noting that the figures are devastating.

Therefore, he added, additional efforts are needed to improve the situation of the Roma community in the country.
Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi also attended the constitutive session on Tuesday, showing interest in active engagement in improving the rights of the Roma.
"Let this session be a call to our conscience to systematically resolve the problems of the Roma," said Gashi.
This, in line with respecting the Constitution, which treats all citizens equally, is to make maximum efforts to ensure that no one in the country feels discriminated against, reads the press release.
