Spasovski in Washington: MoI successfully implements ICITAP projects, strategic partnership continues

Skopje, 11 January 2024 (MIA) - Minister of Interior Oliver Spasovski met Wednesday in Washington with U.S. Deputy Assistant Attorney General, Bruce Swartz, and the Department of Justice's International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP) director Gregory Ducot.

Minister Spasovski said justice and national security are the pillars of a stable democratic society, adding that U.S. support in this regard is of enormous significance, the Ministry of Interior said in a press release.

"North Macedonia is supported by the Department of Justice on this path, especially through ICITAP, which is crucial in our efforts to build solid, citizen-oriented police institutions," said Spasovski.

He referred to some of the ICITAP projects, donations and training provided to MoI members over the years.

Spasovski also thanked for the donation that enabled the renovation of a police facility in Skopje, as well as the project for body cameras of traffic and border police officers, which serves as a preventive mechanism in the fight against corruption.

Deputy Assistant Attorney General Swartz thanked Minister Spasovski for his leadership and commitment, voicing his satisfaction from the fact that all projects initiated by ICITAP have been successfully completed by the MoI.

"Our strategic partnership over the past 30 years has been enhanced and is a model for all others. We stand ready to support you with experts and experience exchange in future projects related to countering corruption," said Swartz.
