Spasovski: Honored to sign first EU-North Macedonia agreement in Macedonian language
Skopje, 26 October 2022 (MIA) – I am honored to have had the pleasure to sign the first agreement between the Republic of North Macedonia and the European Union in Macedonian language. I am happy we showed that equality comes through the understanding that we are all working on the common goal – in the citizens’ interest, says Minister of Interior Oliver Spasovski. Minister Spasovski wrote in a Facebook post that the Macedonian people is already recognizing unity, becoming a real witness of the common European vision, allied with all European nations. “From the aspect of the Frontex agreement, this means safer borders of our country, leading in turn to strengthened security of Macedonian citizens but also keeping the security of EU nationals. A win-win partnership,” says Spasovski. In other words, he adds, the swift deployment of Frontex staff and equipment or foreign police officers at critical border points will, on one hand, ensure efficient management of migration challenges, but also strengthen the protection from potential threats related to serious cross-border crime on the other. “The Frontex agreement guarantees the implementation of the highest standards of integrity, ethical conduct, professionalism and respect of the fundamental rights and obligations by all stakeholders in operational activities,” says Spasovski.
