Spasovski expects road cameras detecting traffic violations to be installed nationwide in late summer

Shtip, 5 June 2023 (MIA) - By the end of the summer, it is expected that traffic cameras will be installed on the roads nationwide that will record traffic violations, Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski told MIA on Monday in Shtip when asked whether cameras will be installed on the road sections, because four people died in two separate road crashes in the eastern region in just a few days.

“With regard to the installation of cameras that will enable the electronic control, not only on the highways, but also in the cities, we have already started the implementation of that entire project. I expect that by the end of the summer, the traffic cameras will be installed and that the control of this type will begin, and the existing way of controlling traffic safety will also be in operation,” Spasovski said.

According to him, the entire project will cover all parts of the country, as there will be fixed and transportable cameras that can be moved to different parts, not only on one main, regional road or on highway. In this way, not only in the area of traffic, but also in the area of public safety, we will have greater success in operational efficiency, he added.

He said that traffic controls have been increased several times during all these years, starting from 2017 until today, and the results that are being achieved are visible.
