Skopje, 10 December 2024 (MIA) — Green Humane City activists rallied at the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning on Tuesday afternoon to demand the government urgently tackle the Skopje air pollution problem by taking real steps to clean the air and protect Skopje citizens' health.
From the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning, the protesters marched toward Parliament. The protest will end in front of the Government.
According to protest organizers, 3,828 to 5,000 people in the country die every year as a direct result of exposure to harmful PM2.5 air pollution. This represents 17.7 percent of the total mortality in the country, they said.
"Of particular concern is that one in nine children who die under one year of age lose their lives because of polluted air," organizers said. mr/
