Skopje hosts 4th Socio-Ecological Forum

Skopje, 3 June 2024 (MIA) - Skopje is hosting on Monday the 4th Socio-Ecological Forum (SEF) organized by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES). The forum will focus on the energy policies of the Western Balkan countries and the European Union.

Peter Hurrelbrink, Director of FES Skopje, and Ivana Vuchkova, Project Manager at FES Skopje, are set to deliver opening remarks for the forum.

"MP and former Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Fatmir Bytyqi, President of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) Marko Bislimoski, Member of the Executive Committee of the International Union of Tenants Barbara Steenbergen, and Mayor of Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zijad Lugavic, will take part in the first panel discussion entitled "How to ensure a socially just energy transformation in an era of rising poverty and inequalities?", said the organizers.

The Socio-Ecological Forum Skopje offers a unique platform that unites progressive leaders, civil society, academia, journalists, trade unions and youth from the wider European continent to ensure a transformation that is socially just.

"Due to its local character, the forum offers a meaningful exchange on ongoing social challenges of ambitious energy and climate policies through the promotion of best practice examples and strengthening cooperation," FES Skopje said.
