Sela says Tetovo Court ruled to legitimize him as leader of Alliance for Albanians

Skopje, 3 April 2024 (MIA) – At a press conference Wednesday, Ziadin Sela said the Basic Court in Tetovo adopted a decision on Tuesday legitimizing him as leader of the Alliance for Albanians.

“I would like to announce that the Basic Court in Tetovo finally decided who the representative of the Alliance is for Albanians is. This decision is very important for us. It is true that the seals which represent the party are only symbolic, but on the other hand this decision is very important, as this was one of the tools of our rivals who are seeking to leave the Alliance for Albanians without a political solution in this situation which we are in, deep in the electoral process, so that the party isn’t represented as it should be and doesn’t participate in this political race,” Sela said.

According to Sela, the decision makes clear who the representative of the Alliance for Albanians is, and that the party is ready to participate in the elections and achieve good results.

In response to the statements of members of Arben Taravari’s wing in the party that they will appeal the Court’s decision, Sela stressed that everyone has the right to appeal, but noted that the decision upholds the request of the party’s congress to make him leader of the party.

“So, this isn’t a dispute between me and Taravari, but a decision made at the party’s congress which has been documented with documents and signatures and that decision is being upheld,” Sela said.

Sela stated the party has submitted MP lists as part of the European Front.

“We are a part of the European Front. I already clarified that the plan was to place us in an unfavorable situation as a political party and from that aspect I said the decision we had to make was choose one of two options. We had to either boycott the elections and not participate or join a coalition. And, of course, we chose to be a part of the European Front,” Sela said.

On Wednesday, the Basic Court in Tetovo officialy said it had accepted a request for a change of the party’s leadership, naming Ziadin Sela as leader of the party.

Arben Taravari’s wing of the party said they would appeal the decision.
