SEC presents Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova with certificate of election

Skopje, 11 May 2024 (MIA) - The State Election Commission (SEC) presented Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova with a Certificate of Election for the post of President of the Republic of North Macedonia on Saturday, after it published the final results of the presidential elections.  

The President of the Commission presented SIljanovska-Davkova with the Certificate and wished her a successful term. 

At a session earlier on Saturday, the Commission’s President concluded that Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova has been elected President of the Republic of North Macedonia with 561.000 votes, while her opponent in the presidential race, Stevo Pendarovski, won 251.899 votes.

The report on the finality of the results was unanimously adopted at the Commission’s session on Saturday.

The Commission did not receive any complaints regarding the results of the presidential elections, while nine complaints were submitted over the parliamentary elections by the “Worth It” coalition, eight by VMRO-DPMNE, five by SDSM and four by Levica. 

The Commission determined that 861.218 out of 1.814.317 voters in the Electoral Roll voted at the May 8 presidential elections. Turnout for the vote was 47.47 percent; 953.121 ballots were left unused; 812.899 were valid, and 48.289 ballots were invalid.

After the announcement of the final results of the presidential elections, SEC is set to deliver a report to the Parliament in order for an inauguration session to be scheduled, which is expected to be held on Sunday. The term of incumbent President Stevo Pendarovski also ends on Sunday.

University Professor Gordana SIljanovska-Davkova will be the sixth president of North Macedonia and the first woman to hold the title.
