SDSM proposes amendments for minimum wage increase

Skopje, 21 October 2024 (MIA) – The SDSM parliamentary group proposes amendments to the minimum wage law raising the minimum wage to 27,700 denars, SDSM leader and MP announced on Monday.

The raise, he said, will not only provide financial stability of workers, it will also affect the increase in the average wage.

“Amid great economic insecurity, being a responsible opposition, we’re proposing amendments to the law on minimum wage. Under the changes, we propose increasing the minimum wage to 27,700 denars, up by 12.3%,” Filipche stated.

The opposition leader called on all lawmakers to act above party lines and endorse the initiative on raising minimum wage.

“I call on the government and all MPs saying this is not the time to represent partisan interests, it’s time to protect the interest of the citizens. This solution is in the interest of all citizens and we’re all responsible to help develop the economic prosperity of our country,” said Filipche.

The September consumer basket was recorded at 61,306 denars (about 1,000 euros), he mentioned.
