Skopje, 27 December 2024 (MIA) - Zelen Human Grad (Green Humane City) joint initiative will stage a protest march against air pollution in Skopje at 12:30 pm on Saturday, starting in front of the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning, via the Parliament and Government, ending in front of the City of Skopje.

"Almost three weeks have passed since the last protest, a fortnight since the demands were submitted and still no response from institutions. Whom do they serve? There can be no health without clean air! Hospitals are filling up and we are bleeding money in pharmacies," says Zelen Human Grad in a press release.

All Skopje citizens and people from other cities are expected to join the protest for clean air.

"Let's send 2024 off with a clean conscience that we did the most for our health and the health of future generations! The more we are, the greater the pressure for real changes! The air we breathe is non-negotiable, we have no time to wait," reads the press release.

According to UNICEF data, 11.6 percent of infant deaths in the country is linked to air pollution, meaning that one in nine children under one dies due to air pollution.

Zelen Human Grad invites citizens to help make banners and posters for the protest at 9 pm on Friday at the Laboratorium Cultural Center. ssh/ik/
