Prices drop dramatically at Delchevo farmers market
Skopje, 30 April 2022 (MIA) — Delchevo farmers market vendors have slashed the prices of produce following the Easter holidays, drawing even Bulgarians to buy local fruit and vegetables in season, MIA’s Delchevo correspondent reports. “There is a great demand. The prices are lower than last week. Cucumbers are now 50 denars per kilogram, tomatoes are 100 to 120 denars, and rice is 70 denars per kilogram. There are many buyers from Bulgaria here, as well,” said Miki Dzhabirski, a vegetable grower from the Delchevo village Grad. Bulgarian visitors said the prices were not as important to them as was the variety of produce available at the farmers market. “I don’t see any big difference in prices between here and back home. We came from Blagoevgrad to get some fresh produce and to eat at a restaurant, and then we’ll leave,” a Bulgarian citizen said. Delchevo residents are happy with the lower prices. “The prices have dropped dramatically. If they remain this low, it will be good for us, everyone will be able to buy something,” said Fidancho Stojkovski from Delchevo. Delchevo expects an influx of Bulgarian tourists this summer after the public health protection measures against Covid-19 were removed. mr/
