Skopje, 3 June 2025 (MIA) – The agreement signed with the United Kingdom is excellent and quite ok, from a geopolitical point of view it is making us a factor in the Balkans and more interesting in the region as well as more prosperous, President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova said Tuesday.
The agreement, she added, contains a technical error only in the English version, which can be fixed in the coming days through exchange of notes.
The document says it was signed by the vice president of the country on the behalf of the government. Representing the country, it was, in fact, signed by Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski.
“The agreement is not like some other agreements concluded by the wrong officials. I insist that an agreement changing the name cannot be signed by a foreign minister, yet it was signed by him. The constitution, according to articles 118 and 119, clearly states that heads of state sign agreements.
According to her, the agreement regulates that works will continue even if it is revoked.
“Should I remind you that many constructions across the country have been left unfinished because there weren’t such provisions in the agreement. When you’re moving forward and you have a guarantee that you can implement it, then you’ll be treated differently,” stated Siljanovska Davkova speaking to reporters, mentioning that a bulk of the British investments in the Western Balkans are in Macedonia.
