Police detains three workers who were working at Universal Hall when fire broke out

Skopje, 9 April 2024 (MIA) - The Interior Ministry said they have detained three construction workers who were working at Skopje’s Universal Hall when fire broke out at the building on Tuesday.
“In relation to the fire, three construction workers, B.R. (50), Z.T. (60) and B.I. (53) who were working when the fire broke out have been detained at the Centar police station. Measures are being taken to clear up the case,” the Ministry said in a press release.
The Ministry said that at around 9:45 am on Tuesday, the Skopje Police received reports about a fire at the Universal Hall in Skopje. Immediately after the report, police officers and firefighters headed to the scene and the fire was extinguished around 11:30am.
In the press release, the Ministry stated that two people, E.S. (48) and A.T. (41) were taken by ambulance to the Clinic of Toxicology due to inhalation of fumes from the fire.
Additionally, two women in the nearby buildings had to be rescued by the police’s intervention unit after they were left stuck in an elevator due to power cuts in the area.
