PM says Kos’ statement on constitutional changes understandable since 'she needed votes of Bulgarian MEPs at hearing'
- I understand the EU Commissioner, she needed to pass the hearing which required the votes of MEPs from our eastern neighbor, I think she saw those messages through that optics, and I do too. I am convinced that in the period to come, through joint talks, after 2.5 decades, Macedonia’s path to full-fledged EU membership will be wide open and assessed on the basis of the achievements and competencies, and not on bilateral issues, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Saturday when asked to comment on the statement by the Commissioner-designate for enlargement, Marta Kos, who said the country must implement the constitutional amendments.

Skopje, 9 November 2024 (MIA) - I understand the EU Commissioner, she needed to pass the hearing which required the votes of MEPs from our eastern neighbor, I think she saw those messages through that optics, and I do too.
The Prime Minister said, “we must succeed, and we will succeed”, noting that his optimism is based on all his meetings with relevant world leaders over the past five months.
Mickoski described his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in Budapest as “meaningful dialogue”, adding that in addition to the country’s Euro-integrations they also discussed many joint projects in the economy, infrastructure, healthcare.
“In addition to the issues related to our country’s EU integration, we also spoke about cooperation in the economy, we have many projects in infrastructure and healthcare which are important to us and which we can realize as two governments. Our communication will continue. During the day we had many chances to be together and discuss many open topics,” Mickoski said.
