Kocevski: Investigation into Kochani fire complete, defense to examine evidence as of tomorrow

Skopje, 29 May 2025 (MIA) - Chief Prosecutor Ljubomir Kocevski said Thursday that the investigation into the fire that broke out in the 'Pulse' nightclub in Kochani has been completed, and the defense will be examining the evidence as of tomorrow.

"After two and a half months, the investigation ends tomorrow, which means that the defense will begin examining the case tomorrow. The defense has the right to submit evidence in the next 15 days, which the Public Prosecutor's Office will evaluate, to be followed by a public prosecutor's decision," Kocevski said in an interview with TV 24.

He pointed out that there has never been a case like this in the country before, adding that it is a complex investigation with many actions taken, including a prosecutorial team of 13 public prosecutors.

"All relevant evidence that was important for the investigation was secured in record time," Kocevski noted.

He said investigation into the role of police officers who were in the nightclub on the night of the fire continues, and does not rule out the possibility that the investigation could be expanded if evidence is provided.

The March 16 fire that broke out in the 'Pulse' nightclub in Kochani claimed 63 lives and left about 200 people injured.
