Skopje, 25 July 2023 (MIA) - Defence Minister Slavjanka Petrovska is paying a working visit to Turkey on Tuesday and Wednesday. Minister Petrovska is set to attend the 16th International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF'23) and meet with Turkish counterpart Yaşar Güler, the Ministry of Defence said in a press release on Tuesday. 

North Macedonia and Turkey, reads the press release, have extremely close and fruitful defense relations both as partners and as NATO allies.

"Turkey has so far supported the Macedonian Army with funds and equipment in the amount of about USD 30 million, and procurement of artillery systems from Turkey is currently underway, through a Government-to-Government agreement. Through this agreement, the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia will be equipped with “Boran” howitzers, which should be delivered in 2025 according to the plan," the press release adds.

The 16th International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF'23) will bring together more than 400 official delegations, including Defence Ministers, and it is expected that approximately 1,000 national and international companies active directly or indirectly in defence, security, maritime, aerospace industry will participate in the fair.
