Skopje, 30 June 2024 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski published Sunday an initiative for the development of municipalities in the country by securing EUR 250 million from the state budget for development and capital projects, the Government said in a press release, adding that the plan is a part of the efforts to improve infrastructure and the quality of life of the citizens.
According to the Government, the way the funds will be distributed to the municipalities was determined at a working meeting with Minister of Finance Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska and Minister of Local Self-Government Zlatko Perinski. Following the budget revision and a government decision towards the end of July, the Ministry of Local Self-Government is expected to publish a call for all municipalities to apply for the funds.
Mickoski noted that the funds are intended for capital investments, including schools, kindergartens, water and sanitation services and road infrastructure.
“We promised municipal development, and we are now fulfilling that by securing EUR 250 million for infrastructural development. By doing so, we are tangibly improving the lives of the citizens and putting the state to work for their needs. It is time for the state to do more for each citizen. With all our energy, we are working to realize what we’ve promised,” Mickoski wrote in a post on his official Facebook profile.
