VMRO-DPMNE on Filipche’s proposal: Leaders’ meeting held just a month ago, no need for another

Skopje, 25 May 2025 (MIA) - Valentin Manasievski, member of the VMRO-DPMNE Central Committee, stated at Sunday’s press conference held at the party headquarters that there is no need for a leaders’ meeting, in response to opposition SDSM leader Venko Filipche’s proposal to suggest topics for such a meeting.

“First of all, we want Venko Filipche to refrain from using the leaders’ meeting as a platform to raise his own rating. A leaders’ meeting was held just a month ago, so we don’t see a need for another one. If Filipche wants to hold meetings with his coalition partners, he should do that with Ali Ahmeti, Taravari, or Dimche Apasiev, as they are the same people with the same values,” Manasievski said when asked about Filipche’s announcement that he will propose specific points for a leaders’ meeting on Monday aimed at reaching a consensus on EU integration.

Responding to questions from the media in Ohrid about Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski’s address at the formal academy, in which he called for party unity on national interests, Filipche stated Saturday that he has consistently initiated meetings on what must be done to reach a national consensus and that he is fully prepared to work jointly for the benefit and progress of the country.

“I will present a specific proposal on Monday on what the leaders of the largest political parties should focus their discussions on, as the EU’s message is clear. Waiting and doing nothing is simply lost time. Young people view this only as motivation to leave. More than anyone, the younger generation will not see their future in Macedonia unless we kickstart the EU integration process and work together to improve many aspects that will make life better and of higher quality,” SDSM leader said.
