Pendarovski: Remembering Holocaust and fighting antisemitism is a historical and civilizational responsibility

Skopje, 10 March 2023 (MIA) - President Stevo Pendarovski held Friday a meeting with a delegation of Israel's Knesset, led by Hamad Amar, chair of the North Macedonia friendship group, which is visiting the country on the 80-year commemoration of the Jews' deportation to camp Treblinka.
"Referring to upcoming commemorative events to pay due respect to the lost lives of the Jews, the President pointed out that North Macedonia will continue its commitments and policies to remember the Holocaust and the fight against antisemitism, as a shared historical and civilizational responsibility," the President's Office said in a press release.
Participants in the meeting discussed strengthening cooperation between the two countries in all areas, highlighting the role of the Jewish community in the Republic of North Macedonia and expressing confidence that it will continue to make its active contribution to the overall development of the country, as well as in fostering friendly relations between the two countries.
President Pendarovski extended gratitude for Israel's principled support in the past period and expressed his readiness to promote overall bilateral cooperation.
