Skopje, 4 February 2024 (MIA) - President Stevo Pendarovski laid Sunday a wreath at the grave of Macedonian revolutionary Goce Delchev, on occasion of the 152th anniversary from his birth.
A Government delegation led by First Deputy PM for European Affairs Bojan Marichikj, also including Culture Minister Bisera Kostadinovska-Stojchevska and Deputy Minister of Transporet and Communications Bekim Rexhepi, also laid a wreath at Delchev's tomb.
A Parliament delegation led by Vice-Speaker Goran Misovski, also including MPs Marija Georgievska and Velika Stojkova-Serafimovska, also paid respects.
In addition, SDSM leader and former PM Dimitar Kovachevski, diplomatic corps, political parties and civil society organizations laid wreaths at Delchev's grave.
Macedonian Orthodox Church-Ohrid Archdiocese (MOA-OA) Pontiff, HH Stedan, led the service at the tomb.
"Goce's memory lives on and the love for him is not diminishing. We should not only think how proud we are of Goce, but how proud he is of us. Goce and many of his fellow fighters gave their lives for the freedom of their homeland, whereas our love to the motherland is confirmed by deeds. It is high time we see Macedonia not only as geography but as a biblical country with a sacred name," said HH Stefan.
