Parliament adopts law on second tranche of Hungarian loan

Skopje, 16 December 2024 (MIA) – The Parliament adopted on Monday under expedited procedure the law on the second tranche of the Hungarian loan with 65 votes in favor and 17 votes against.

"The Government, building on the positive experience from the cooperation with Hungary in terms of favourable financial conditions in providing the first loan for budget financing and financing general purposes, has approached to providing the second loan in the amount of EUR 500 million. The Hungarian Export-Import Bank expressed its readiness to grant the second loan, and the text on the loan agreement, which is attached to this draft law, has been aligned in negotiations with it," said Deputy Finance Minister Nikolche Jankulovski.

He pointed out that the terms for the second tranche are the same as for the first tranche, i.e. the loan from the Export-Import Bank Hungary will be withdrawn in a single tranche, with a 15-year repayment period and a three-year grace period, at a fixed interest rate of 3.25 percent.

These resources are designated for repaying the Eurobond, which is set to mature in January 2025.
