Skopje, 18 November 2022 (MIA) - Parliament on Friday with 58 votes in favor and 21 abstentions passed amendments to the law on subsidized student meal in fast-tracked procedure. Under the changes, every students in the country until March 15, 2023 will be paid 120 denars per meal (2,400 denars a month). Opposition MPs voted in abstention after demanding that students should be paid 160 instead of 120 denars. The changes to the law on subsidized student meal are considered a transitional solution as a way to resume payments for subsidized student meals under the same conditions until mid-March 2023. A new solution should be found after March according to the deal reached with representatives of student organizations, held in this past Monday following a protest of students outside Parliament.
