Osmani-Schweng: Western Balkans should be EU's top priority
Skopje, 30 September 2021 (MIA) – Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani met on Thursday with Christa Schweng, the President of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) and discussed the resumption of the work of the EU-North Macedonia Joint Consultative Committee.
During the meeting, Osmani underlined the important role that the European Economic and Social Committee have towards the Western Balkans considering the region as a key geo-strategic point of Europe, and the process of enlargement, investment in peace, stability, security and economic growth for the entire continent, Foreign Ministry said in a press release.
Osmani and Schweng also exchanged views on the resumption of the work of EU-North Macedonia Joint Consultative Committee, which is of key importance for the dialogue of North Macedonia with the EU in the socio-economic field, and will play an important role during the negotiation process.
They also discussed, the press release read, the Civil Society Forum in the Western Balkans, which is being held in Skopje, and the adopted recommendations of the Forum that will be presented at the EU-WB Summit in Slovenia next week.
