Skopje, 11 April 2023 (MIA) – The OSCE Chairpersonship is continuously and actively engaged with displaced persons, women and youth affected by the conflicts, as well as people living in isolated and threatened areas. Their opinions and worries are very important, said OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia Bujar Osmani at Tuesday’s meeting with the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili.
“The message of our Chairpersonship ‘It’s About People’ is in this context as well. I encourage the active participation of Tbilisi and their continued pragmatism in order to advance core issues and to make use of all opportunities for dialogue with the final goal of improving the condition of all people affected by the conflict,” said Osmani at the meeting with Garibashvili.
Osmani once again voiced his support for the resolution of these issues through the key diplomatic channels for dialogue, referring to the Geneva International Discussions and the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism.
In addition to this, stressed Minister Osmani, OSCE is actively involved in the presentation of new measures for building trust and dialogue initiatives, especially concerning the youth and establishing close relations with all affected parties.
“I also want to note the cooperation with State Minister for Reconciliation and Civil Equality Tea Akhvlediani, with whom I held a meeting during which we spoke about promoting processes for a peaceful and sustainable resolution of the conflict. We must continue down the path which leads to peace,” said Osmani.
Apart from the Prime Minister and the Minister for Reconciliation and Civil Equality, Osmani also met with the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, with whom he spoke about the importance of political pluralism when it comes to solving urgent issues.
With these meetings, OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Osmani concludes his agenda in Georgia and will continue his visit to the South Caucasus region in Baku, Azerbaijan, where he will also hold meetings with the country’s top officials.
