Skopje, 26 May 2025 (MIA) - First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environment and Physical Planning, Izet Mexhiti, who is part of the Vlen (Worth It) coalition, said ahead of Monday's Central Presidency of the coalition that at tonight's session, Arben Fetai will be included in Vlen's leadership and will remain Deputy Prime Minister for Good Governance, while Azir Aliu will be the coalition's proposal for a new Minister of Health following Arben Taravari's resignation and decision to go in opposition.
"Vlen is complete. Ten members of the Alliance for Albanians (AA) headed by Arben Fetai will be co-opted tonight into the presidency of Vlen. It has also been defined that they will be part of Vlen's presidency, which means that we will continue the battle for the local elections, the battle for a new victory. Also, Fetai will remain Deputy Prime Minister for Good Governance, while Azir Aliu is Vlen's proposal for new Minister of Health. Vlen will make a decision on other posts in the Government in the coming days and you will be informed in a timely manner," said Mexhiti.
He added that the coalition's proposal for a Minister of Health will be submitted to Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski in the coming days.
"We have discussed it, and we will submit an official proposal in the coming days," Mexhiti said in response to a reporter's question whether the proposal has been discussed with the PM so far.
Azir Aliu is former Minister of Information Society and Administration, and is part of the Alliance for Albanians which remains in the Vlen coalition.
Earlier on Monday, Vlen released a statement welcoming the decision of AA members who have chosen to join in, and describing it as an act of civic responsibility, a valuable contribution to the process of profound transformation that they have begun together, as the statement reads.
Deputy PM Fetai, who is part of the Vlen coalition, accompanied by former Minister of Information Society and Administration, Azir Aliu, officially announced at a press conference on Sunday that he remains part of the Government.
Arben Taravari, who heads one of the Alliance for Albanians (AA) party wings, reacted in a Facebook post after Deputy PM Fetai's press conference and "his group of less than 40 people" following the decision that the Alliance for Albanians is part of the Government.
Taravari said in his Facebook post that former party members were experiencing a mix of anxiety and guilt, reminding them of the local elections in October, at which he said he will win.
