Oil derivatives pipeline slated to start up this year, says Mickoski

Oil derivatives pipeline slated to start up this year, says Mickoski

Skopje, 26 November 2025 (MIA) – The Government is taking all steps to launch the oil derivatives pipeline, which has not been in operation for years, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Wednesday in response to a reporter's question on whether steps are taken to follow the oil derivatives situation in neighbouring Serbia, as well as when the pipeline will start up, which could supply southern Serbia with oil derivatives.

PM Mickoski noted that the Government is looking into every possibility, but "as a government, we are not a joint-stock company to supply southern Serbia or other countries in the region".

"That is done by private companies that run businesses. We, as a state, are taking all the steps to put that pipeline into operation. Tests are ongoing, might be completed already. Pressure tests should begin, if they haven't already. The Government also passed the price list. So, I expect that the pipeline will be put into operation this year," said Mickoski.

He pointed out that after the Thessaloniki–Skopje pipeline is put into operation, companies are the ones who will use it if they find any interest, because the Government cannot run the business at the expense of private companies or joint-stock companies.
