Number of new Covid-19 infections drops by 22.7%
Skopje, 23 August 2022 (MIA) – Between August 15-21, 2,686 new cases of Covid-19 have been registered in 34 cities in this county, a 22.7% reduction in comparison to last week, according to the Public Health Institute’s weekly report. Most cases have been registered in Skopje, with the highest incidence rate in Delchevo, Kavadarci, Gevgelija, Pehchevo, Ohrid, Negotino, Berovo and Kratovo. According to the data, the age group of over 60 is the most represented one. In comparison to last week, a reduction in all age groups has been noted, the most remarkable ones being 36.3% in 10-19-year-olds. Also, 3,197 people have recovered, a 14.6% reduction in comparison to last week. Twenty deaths have been reported, including five in Ohrid. Twenty-eight people have been admitted for hospital treatment last week. Hospitals are currently treating 125 Covid patients, 45 of which are on oxygen, and one patient is in invasive/noninvasive mechanical ventilation. As of August 21, 875,486 people have received at least one vaccine dose in the country and abroad. A total of 856,527 people have had two jabs. In addition, 59.5% of adults over the age of 18 have had at least one jab, i.e., 55.2% of people over the age of 12, whereas a total of 47.7% of the population has been vaccinated. Also, 58.2% of adults over the age of 18 have received two jabs, i.e., 54.0% of people over the age of 12. A total of 46.6% of the overall population has had two jabs. As regards booster shots, 11.1% of adults over the age of 18 have had a third jab, i.e., 10.2% of people over the age of 12. Only 8.8% of the overall population has had a third jab. dk/nn/
