Andonovski: Digital transformation to be a real strategic priority for the government, with benefits for all

Skopje, 3 July 2024 (MIA) - Our vision includes full digitization of public services, the completion and full integration of the e-services system, enhancing the capacity of public institutions to provide efficient e-services, improving digital literacy among citizens and businesses for the use of e-services, and increasing citizen engagement and awareness of these services, Minister of Digital Transformation Stefan Andonovski said late Wednesday.

In an interview with TV 24, he highlighted that digitization will be a key priority that will transform the operations of public administration and enhance its efficiency, transparency, and quality.

“Despite 91 percent of companies having access to the internet and computers, only 100,000 users are currently active on the Government's web portal,” Andonovski noted.

The Minister Andonovski highlighted that the goal of this Government for the near future is to promote high standards in technological development through focused investments. This comprehensive strategy aims to position North Macedonia as a regional leader to alter the existing reality where the European Commission’s eGovernment Report places North Macedonia at the lowest position, and the Digitalization Report ranks it second to last.

“Our main focus will be on accelerating digital transformation in the country, advancing infrastructure and technologies for digitization, and keeping pace with global developments,” Andonovski said.
