Skopje, 24 December 2021 (MIA) – North Macedonia has detected the first COVID-19 Omicron variant case in the country, the Health Ministry said Friday. The coronavirus variant was detected after a man was tested who recently had returned to the country from the United Kingdom. The man has a breakthrough infection after recovering from COVID-19 in January 2021. “He showed no symptoms then and after recovering he was fully vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine. He tested positive two days ago before it was detected that he had the Omicron variant,” said the press release, adding the self-isolating patient has mild symptoms.
