MoI Spasovski meets Interpol management in Lyon
Skopje, 16 September 2022 (MIA) – Minister of Interior Oliver Spasovski met Friday with Interpol Secretary General Jürgen Stock at the organization’s headquarters in Lyon, on occasion of the 50th European regional conference that North Macedonia is set to host in 2023, which overlaps with the country’s 30th anniversary of Interpol membership.
“I used the opportunity to express my gratitude to the Interpol General Secretariat for choosing North Macedonia as the host of the jubilee conference,” said Minister Spasovski after the meeting.
Spasovski referred to the rich operational cooperation between MoI and Interpol, which is realized through MoI’s active and continued participation in several fields, such as public security and terrorism, uprooting criminal organizations, illicit drug and arms trafficking, financial and cyber crime, human trafficking etc.
Interlocutors also discussed the MoI’s participation in joint operations with Interpol in detecting and preventing organized groups involved in smuggling of Cuban and Indian migrants, and the global operation on preventing vehicle crime, in cooperation with the Customs Administration.
“It was assessed that North Macedonia is a credible partner and leader and implementation of joint operational activities initiated by the General Secretariat, which is an added incentive to intensify cooperation with Interpol,” said Spasovski.
