MoI: Criminal investigation into street drug sales results in 28 arrests

Skopje, 1 June 2024 (MIA) - A large joint operation was conducted on May 31 to June 1, 2024 by the department for illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs, weapons and dangerous substances at the Department for Criminal Police, Special Тask Unit "Tiger", and Skopje Internal Affairs Sector, as part of a criminal investigation initiated in December 2023 under the direction of the competent Public Prosecutor's Office Skopje.

A series of coordinated measures and activities were undertaken in the Skopje area to combat street sales of cocaine, amphetamines, and marijuana. Additionally, 28 persons were arrested during the course of the investigation, the Ministry of Interior said in a press release.

In addition to the 28 persons arrested, during the ongoing criminal investigation, multiple pieces of material evidence were secured, implicating individuals in street sales of cocaine, amphetamines, and marijuana.

Criminal charges have already been filed against two persons, with one placed in pre-trial detention.

Furthermore, a Honda motorcycle and a Ford Mondeo passenger vehicle, believed to have been used for cocaine sales, were seized.

Today, Skopje Internal Affairs Sector will file criminal charges against 7 persons to the Public Prosecutor's Office in Skopje.
