Skopje, 6 August 2021 (MIA) – Romania will send a firefighting plane with large capacity following a written request for urgent assistance to firefighting efforts sent by Defence Minister Radmila Shekerinska to her Romanian counterpart Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă, said the Defence Ministry. “Please, review the conditions for sending a plane to put out wildfires, which is urgently needed for the Republic of North Macedonia. Solidarity from allies is key in difficult times. We are grateful for all your help and support,” reads Shekerinska’s letter to Ciucă. This is yet another positive response from a NATO ally following Slovenia’s response by sending firefighters and firefighting vehicles and the assistance of the neighbor Bulgaria to the fire-hit regions in the country, said the press release.
