Minister Lloga informs international community on non-implementation of ECtHR’s judgments by Bulgaria

Skopje, 11 May 2023 (MIA) – Justice Minister Krenar Lloga sent letters to the US Embassy in the Republic of North Macedonia, the EU Delegation, the OSCE Mission and the Council of Europe Programme Office in Skopje informing them about the non-implementation of the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) by the Republic of Bulgaria.

In the letter, which also includes 14 judgments, support is requested from the international community in respect of promotion and protection of human rights, the Ministry of Justice said in a press release.

“The fulfilment of this goal involves the existence of a continuous commitment and consistent respect for the international obligations that the Republic of North Macedonia has undertaken as a country that is currently in the process of European integration. The respect of international documents is a very important segment for which EU member states in particular, but also EU candidate countries, must strive for,” reads the press release.

The international community, it is said, is a very important partner of the Republic of North Macedonia, which is involved in all reform processes and a partner that undoubtedly firmly and consistently stands for respect for the rule of law.

“The Ministry of Justice considers that it is of great importance to update the issue of non-implementation of ECtHR judgments, emphasizing the need for support from the international community for the consistent implementation of the court's judgments,” reads the press release.
