Mickoski says he expects Siljanovska Davkova to win over 500,000 votes, VMRO-DPMNE over 55 MP seats

Skopje, 29 April 2024 (MIA) – VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski said Monday that the outcome of April 24 is clear, and so is the message of the people that the opposition should form the next government. He expects Gordana Siljanovska Davkova to win over 500,000 votes on May 8, and VMRO-DPMNE to have at least 55 MP seats.

Mickoski told MRT's 360 Degrees that voter turnout in the second round will be over 40 percent and the country will get the new president.

“I expect support for Gordana Siljanovska Davkova from Taravari, Vankovska and Jakimovski,” said Mickoski.

He is convinced that VMRO-DPMNE will get a majority of 61 MPs, as well as Badinter majority. He reiterated the party's position regarding the constitutional amendments, stressing that if the constitutional amendments are a condition of the "Worth It" coalition to join the government, such a condition will not be accepted. Macedonian European integration remains a priority, he said, and there are no doubts here, but the country must have a much more precise position and know exactly if and what plan Europe has for it.

Mickoski reiterated his call to all political parties that declare themselves as opposition, for national and state unity against the government.

Regarding a coalition with “Worth It”, Mickoski is insistent that the opposition should be given a chance.

“There are many things that I believe need to change on the political scene. If you ask the citizens, the majority, three quarters of the people, are in favor of DUI going in opposition. They have been in power for too long. We need to give others a chance and an opportunity. Let's see the potential of the parties that united around “Worth It”. On the constitutional amendments, our position is clear and there are no changes there. We have a clear position regarding the EU, we are in favor of continuing Macedonian European integration and there is no dilemma here. Mistakes were made by the previous government, we have no intention of accepting them, but we do not ignore them and therefore we want to have a much more precise position, to see what is essentially Europe’s plan for us, is there even a plan for us, let's be more clear because this is so vague again,” the VMRO-DPMNE leader said.
