Mickoski invites Kovachevski to debate on energy crisis
Skopje, 29 September 2022 (MIA) - VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski on Thursday invited Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski to a debate regarding the opposition party's proposal on how to tackle the energy and heating crisis. Speaking at a news conference, Mickoski said Kovachevski should pick the time and place where the two could hold a debate. He also said he wants to have a meeting over his proposal with government officials at the government's building. The key point in the opposition party's proposal, according to him, is the additional quantities of electricity from domestic production with affordable resources for the economy, for businesses to flourish and workers to keep their jobs, as well as additional quantities of heating energy. It will, as Mickoski said, prevent users of the Skopje central heating system from receiving higher energy bills. "At least EUR 300 million will be saved," he claimed saying the government in the coming period will take international loans, which will be in the future paid back with taxpayers' money. Earlier at a press briefing, the VMRO-DPMNE leader proposed that the Negotino thermal power plant should be put online only to meet the needs of businesses. He also said he offers his contacts with company officials in Switzerland, Germany and the Czech Republic for gas procurement. Commenting on last night's press conference held by PM Kovachevski, Mickoski called it "panic reaction of the government."
