Skopje, 28 March 2024 (MIA) – The Media Information Agency (MIA) in cooperation with the State Archive of the Republic of North Macedonia digitized over 12,000 photos from negatives made in the period between 1999 and 2000.
Stressing the importance of digitization, of photos, MIA Director Dragan Antonovski said the films will be finally preserved and they will be well kept at the State Archive.
“I’m especially proud of having been able to conclude, if I may say so, the first segment of our cooperation because the continuity of what it is to be an archive and the Media Information Agency, at the state in general, and the films are finally preserved. The institutional value of the state in general, and of MIA, and the value of everything that we have to be passed on to future generations is of great importance. I believe the state Archive is the right place where future generations can use them,” stated Antonovski.
The State Archive Director, Hrista Najdenov explained that some of the copies of the digitized photos will be kept at the State Archive of the Republic of North Macedonia, thus allowing the photos to be used for research in the future.
“I hope we will continue to cooperate to preserve as many similar materials as possible that are considered of historical value for the state and for our institution,” said Najdenov.
The cooperation memorandum, covering the field of science, education and culture and envisaging digitization of photos and other materials in MIA’s archive, was implemented for ten months. During that period, 12,665 negatives were digitized in jpg format.
