Skopje, 3 August 2023 (MIA) - Employees of the Media Information Agency (MIA) staged another half-an-hour warning protest in front of the agency's premises on Thursday, after their demand for higher wages was not included on the agenda of the Government's session held on August 1, 2023.  

The Independent Union of Journalists and Media Workers (SSNM) has said demands of MIA staff are legitimate and give their full support, noting that the Agency has an extremely important role in the overall media landscape in the country.

MIA employees reiterated their demand for an increase of the wages and their balancing with the rising living expenses. Also, MIA employees announced that following the unfavorable development of the events, they will reconsider other forms of reaction, i.e. taking the protest to a new phase, which could also include halting news coverage for a certain time. 

Journalists and media workers at MIA expect that a solution will be found sooner in favor of both parties, and thus there would be no additional implications for the entire media landscape in the country.
