MFA: No excuse for hate speech, eliciting tension and violence
Skopje, 6 July 2022 (MIA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) condemns the violent and inappropriate actions taken by some of the participants in the protests that took place on Tuesday. "While respecting the right of all citizens to freely and individually express their revolt or displeasure through protest, we believe there is no excuse for spreading hate speech, hurling insults and eliciting tension, as well as resorting to violence and vandalism against the Ministry's building," MFA's press release reads noting that the participation of MFA staff members in such events is highly inappropriate. "In the same context, we'd like to also point out that the participation of MFA employees at protests where stones were cast on the house of diplomacy, while giving a political speech, is not only a breach of the code of ethics, but also a humiliation of the diplomatic profession," the press release reads. The MFA will take action against the numerous breaches in accordance with internal procedures, as well as taking measures to protect employees in the house and the diplomatic profession. The Ministry emphasizes that union representatives are always included in the decision processes for the rights and obligations of MFA employees, and that all constructive criticism is welcomed and taken into account. "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is carefully monitoring all opinions and recommendations that are a part of a wider consultative process, and they are a key input in the creation of future steps in foreign politics," the press release reads. dk/ba/
