Skopje, 17 March 2023 (MIA) - Over the past four days, the national electricity market operator MEMO tested the day-ahead energy market, which is expected to launch on 10 May 2023.
The testing involved a simulation of four different scenarios - a normal day; technical problem prior to closure of order book plus delay in data release; technical problem after closure of order book plus delay in data release; and technical problem plus no-auction procedure. The simulation results are excellent, with more than 24 potential stakeholders actively involved in the testing, says MEMO.
Considering the testing results, it adds, we are convinced that the market will be fully operational by the launch date.
According to MEMO, launch of the day-ahead energy market will ensure the formation of a relevant reference electricity price in the country and networking with neighboring markets, thus facilitating the availability of electricity for large stakeholders.
This represents one of the basic prerequisites for private investments in the energy sector and energy-intensive sectors, says MEMO.
