Marichikj: Western Balkan countries know the importance and potential of regional cooperation
Skopje, 3 November 2022 (MIA) - The Western Balkans knows how to be a promoter of the European system of values and is determined to move towards EU membership, Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs Bojan Marichikj posted on his Facebook profile. He is part of the government delegation led by Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski, which is participating in the meeting of Western Balkan leaders within the framework of the Berlin Process, held Thursday in Berlin at the invitation of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. "The Berlin Process is gaining new momentum and the next period will provide many answers about the direction in which the countries of the Western Balkans should move and how to successfully overcome the challenges and join the EU. In such complex geopolitical circumstances, the Berlin Process opens a new chance for good dynamics of the European integration of the countries of the region and for strengthening regional cooperation at the right time," Marichikj said. Pointing out that the government delegation participated in the first panel session of the Summit where regional cooperation and the common market were discussed, Marichikj stated that Western Balkan countries know the importance and potential of regional cooperation, economic cooperation above all. "All the countries of the region have an excellent opportunity to better valorize our resources and become more attractive to foreign investors, who will help us advance faster in the democratic development of our countries, in relation to the EU," the Deputy PM said. In addition to Kovachevski and Marichikj, the government delegation also includes the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bujar Osmani. The heads of government of the six countries of the Western Balkans region, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Council, Charles Michel, the former hosts of the Berlin Process summits, as well as EU representatives and international organizations officials are also taking part. dk/ba/
